Jamie Pope

For our first ever blog, we thought it only right to talk about Jamie Pope! If you are new around here, she started Liz James over ten years ago and has been creating and designing wearable art ever since! Always sporting jeans, a relaxed shirt and Birkenstocks, the entire vibe of the studio begins with Jamie. She is the creative force behind the operation, but takes her inspiration from the women around her.

Jamie loves the active lifestyle and laid back atmosphere of Austin, Texas. It is this love that cultivates the versatile pieces of Liz James Designs. "We want you to revel in the simple, easy grace of these pieces that seem to flow with the momentum of life." says Jamie.

Roots

"As a girl, I was shaped and influenced by my mother, sculptor and painter Rosie Sandifer, and her artistic talents and tenacious work ethic. Seeing her work around the world inspired me to explore the possibilities of my natural talents. I am so grateful and humbled to see the same wonderful reactions to my designs, reminiscent to those that my mother saw from her work."

When Jamie was young, her grandmother gifted her a set of classic pearls. She decided she wanted to change up the necklace and make it something of her own. "I asked permission of course, but I thought it would be more unique to me." says Jamie. Thus, the Claudia necklace was born!

Who is "Liz James"?

"My middle name is Elizabeth and James is my childhood nickname. It simply made more sense. I work with a close-knit team of women who work together to bring my designs to life." says Jamie.

The Liz James studio is nestled in the hills of Westlake, just minutes outside of downtown Austin. Starting with a piece of wire, we design and create jewelry to be worn everyday, everywhere you go.
